Step 4:

For all long bore and short bore instruments, the appropriate size box is 31" X 14" X 9". For contra bassoons the size is 54" X 9" X 15". The insert can be purchased at any office supply store or made of general card board.

Step 5:

Place the bassoon into the box. It should be snug against the packing material.

Step 6:

UPS recommends the addition of 3 inches of bubble wrap around the outside of the case. This should fill the box. Do not use styrofoam peanuts.
