Annual Maintenance

To keep your bassoon in good working order it is recommended that you have it serviced annually. This means; checking and replacing (if needed) the bassoon's corks, pads and tenon wrappings, adjusting play in the key work, and oiling the mechanism. During the process the instrument is thoroughly cleaned and the linkages adjusted.

Repair

Unfortunate bassoons are complicated and under engineered. Keith Bowen has over 30 years of expertise to return your bassoon to original working order. Many clients from the worlds leading orchestras regularly rely on this expertise and the careful appointment process. When an appointment is made your bassoon will have undivided attention while it is in the shop.

Customization

The bassoon's complicated fingering system has lead to many different approaches or “schools” of bassoon playing. It is common for players to want to change a bassoon from one school to another. Adding that trill key that you have always wanted, changing an antiquated key system or creating a tailored solution to a fingering problem, is our specialty.

Restoration

For the aging great bassoons restoration can be valuable. Replacing the finish and resurfacing the keywork can bring one of these instruments to a new generation.
